A Walk to Remember – Bb. Pilipinas 2017 Evening Gown Review (Part 2)

High Slits, High Impact

Rachel Peters (Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2017), the night’s big winner, set the stage on fire the moment she stepped out. Designer Val Taguba knew to highlight her assets. He chose a vibrant orange color with a smattering of crystals on the bodice to show off her gorgeous tan. He put a very high slit to feature Rachel’s long legs. Rachel worked that gown to the hilt, especially when she did her spin, sending the skirt flying all around.

Sirene Sutton (Top 15 Finalist) was one of the most anticipated candidates in the Evening Gown Competition and she did not disappoint. Capitalizing on her modeling skills, Roland Alzate created a striped, purple gown with a flowy skirt and high slit, which Sirene knew how to control to perfectly expose her leg as she struck a pose.

Second Skin and Sequins

  • Nelda Ibe (Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2017) looked statuesque in her Paolo Blanco gown, which featured a simple silhouette in nude mesh with coral-like embroidery that was heavy on the bodice but gradually thinned towards the hem. The side-swept hair and coral red lipstick gave the look an old-Hollywood glam feel and helped Nelda secure one of the night’s coveted titles.

Kristel Guelos (2nd Runner-up) wore Adriano Samar’s nude, long-sleeved gown with strategically placed heavy white embroidery and crystals. The lines formed by the details gave one of the most petite candidates a taller silhouette. An overly fussy updo could age this gown dramatically, so she wore her hair down, giving the look a young vibe.
